Anything Goes ...

August is "Anything Goes" at Mad for Markers so I decided to upload the card I have just make for a friend for her birthday.  I have used "Dress Up Marci" and the sentiment is from a very cute new set I have just bought by Flourishes.  I can't remember the name of the set but it is absolutely adorable.

This is a card that I saw somewhere when I was surfing the net and it was described as a variation of the gate fold card.  Pretty simple really but I do like it.  When opened up it looks like this ...

My friend really liked the card and I enjoyed making it.  I think it is very simple (and extremely easy to put together) but effective.  The colours I used on the card are below.

Thanks for looking at my creation and I hope you have a great and "crafty" day.

Karen.

Mad for Markers - Masculine Colours

I am running very late - not even sure if I am on time for this month's challenge, however as it is my nephew's birthday this month I felt this challenge was made for me.  Here is my "Cowboy Luka".  My nephew is very much into Cowboys so I hope he loves this card.

Thanks,

Karen.

Okay, this is a second card I did under the Mad 4 Marers "New Colour Combination" challenge for the month of January. I have again followed my own little challenge of doing a Christmas card and using papers that I already have "stashed" at home. I actually used the same colour combination and papers for this card as I did for the previous card. I really liked these papers and these colours together and whilst it is not technically a "new" combination as I have already used this combination this month I just wanted to post my second attempt.

This time I have coloured in La-La Land - Sunny Christmas Marci and again used the "Trim the Tree" collection from a magazine I had purchased. The ribbon was originally white and I coloured it with my pens to match my card. I have coloured the hair this colour as my neice and nephew have this colour hair and I find myself doing my work to match them.

I know I have said this before however I am going to make a real effort to enter at least one card in the Mad 4 Markers challenges each month. I enjoy looking at everyone else's beautiful creations. You are all so clever!!!

Mad for Markers - New Colour Challenge

This month Mad for Markers monthly challenge is to use a "new colour combination". I have also added my own little challenge to myself for this year and every challenge I am entering I am going to try to do a Christmas card so by the end of the year I will have a start on my cards for Christmas. The second little "extra" challenge I am giving myself is that I am to use papers etc from my stash. For this month I decided to use papers that I got as a free gift with a magazine that I had purchased. I was inspired with the papers from a collection called "Trim the Tree" and they are all purple and green with a Christmas theme. I would not normally put purple and green together for Christmas. I am VERY happy with my Little Elf Mim card and decided to keep the design of it very simple.

Colours Used

I have also decided to keep a little book that I will note all the colours I have used on a project to make it easier if I really like the combination and want to use it again. It is quite hard to see but I have used gold spica pen on the bells on the toes of the shoes as well as the top of the bauble and I have put clear spica over the red berries on the holly leaf as well as the little hair ties. The greeting came with the paper. This is the first time I have coloured this little stamp and I love it. Thanks for looking at my creation.

Mad for Markers - Yellow & Pink Challenge

This is the card that I have made for the current Mad for Markers Challenge - using pink and yellow. I have used a Penny Black stamp and I have also coloured a Martha Stewart butterfly punch with my pens. Thanks to Mad for Markers for putting these challenges up and my next challenge is to enter more.

Out of the Hat Challenge

This is a lay out that I have done today for a challenge by "Out of the Hat". The challenge - Use a Doily, Monocromatic and at least 50% of negative space. All things I am uncomfortable with however this is one of the MANY photos I have been wanting to scrap for sometime. It is a photo of Katie when she was a junior bridesmaid for Belinda and Troy (just a couple of years ago). This photo shows the doily - it was cut using my friend's Cindy Loo Cricut Cartridge and the butterflies are punches embossed with Opals Embossing Enamel. I have "spritzed" the doily with Perfect Pearls.

In this wedding there were 4 bridesmaids and 4 junior bridesmaids / flower girls wearing 4 different colours. The bridesmaids wore a darker shade of the colour worn by the junior bridesmaids. At the time Katie's favourite colour was purple which she was very lucky to be wearing for the wedding. We were so proud of her this day as she really stepped up to the mark and was the perfect young lady all day. We may be a little biased but we also thought she looked absolutely gorgeous.

Challenge #5 - Sketch Challenge

I just love this photo!!! It is my two kids, Matthew and Katie, and my niece and nephew, Chloe and Jack. The photo was taken at the farm. Despite their age differences they all get on so well. To do this layout I have used Basic Grey Papers. The circles have been coloured with alcohol ink and then stamped. The title is chipboard letters that have been embossed with Opals Embossing Powder. I have had the packet of rub-ons FOREVER!!! When I saw them I just knew that one day I would be able to use them. I like how the white layer softens the black. I enjoyed doing this challenge so thanks to the girls at Scrapbook City!!!
